Don't cook dinner next

Thursday, dine out for PWAS

by Doreen Cudnik

Columbus-Forget about preparing dinner next Thursday, April 23. Instead, plan to help people with AIDS by dining out at one of the city's 15 hottest restaurants.

Now in its second year in the state capital, Dining Out for Life is the signature fundraising event for Project Open Hand, a community-based nonprofit agency which has provided more than 33,000 meals to nearly 350 men, women, and children living with HIV in Franklin County.

Simply by patronizing one of this year's participating restaurants, a portion of the bill will be donated to Project Open Hand. The organization hopes to raise $10,000 from the

event.

Participating restaurants include: Strada World Cuisine, Barcelona, Chili VerdeStoneridge, the Claremont Restaurant, the Grapevine Cafe, Juergen's German Restaurant and Bakery, K2U Bar and Grill, King Avenue Coffee House, Lindey's, Old Mohawk, Out on Main, Table of Contents, Theater Cafe, Union Station Video Cafe, and Whole World Vegetarian Restaurant.

Call Project Open Hand at 614-298-8334 or visit their web site at http:// members.aol.com/pohc/page.html for more information about the event, including restaurant locations. Bon appetit!

Black Pride has new web site

Cleveland Black Pride recently announced its newly redesigned web site. The site is fully functional, with more information available about the group and its activities. Cleveland Black Pride is an educational, advocacy organization for black lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders in Northeastern Ohio, and the sponsor of the city's annual Black Gay Pride weekend. The theme of the site is "Pride Inside."

two months away.

The Gay People's Chronicle Pride Guide is our largest and most widely read issue of the year. It is the comprehensive guide to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Pride events across Ohio and beyond.

In addition to calendars of events, the Pride Guide contains directions and maps for Pride marches and festivals, and special features.

If your group is having a Pride event, we want to know about it. Pride Guide calendar listings for are absolutely free.

The Pride Guide is also an opportunity for LGBT groups to show off a little, and let others know what they're doing.

We are taking submissions now for calendar listings, news articles and features for the 1998 Pride Guide.

The Chronicle is also looking for athletes planning to go to the Gay Games in Amsterdam who are willing to be interviewed for a special feature.

Center begins fund drive

Cleveland-April 17 is the kick off date for the Cleveland Lesbian-Gay Center's annual campaign of financial support. If you have not yet become a part of the web of the queer community, here's where you can help. Become a member. For just $25 per year ($15 if you're on a limited income), you will help keep The Center alive and vital. And for only $120 per year (that's only $10 per month), you will be a major donor and greatly enhance what The Center can accomplish. Everything we do, every program, fund-raiser, advocacy project and community event in which we become involved, is for you and depends on you. Call the center today at 216522-1999 to pledge your support, or drop a check in the mail to P.O. Box 6177, Cleveland, 44101. (Submitted by Jan Cline)

The site can be reached at http:// 'Outies' to be awarded bbs2.rmrc.net/cbpi

The new site includes a brief history of Cleveland Black Pride, including a summary of last year's Black Gay Pride weekend. The group has also profiled their new officers and board members as a way of introducing the reader to a bit of the internal atmosphere of the group.

Finally, there is information about some of the groups' upcoming events, such as a bus trip to the Washington, D.C. Black Gay Pride, May 22 25.

The site has been designed with Netscape in mind, so Internet Explorer users (most America Online members) may not be able to view the pages in their full form. Currently, there is no information about the way other browsers may handle the site. Make sure to read the first page very thoroughly and follow the instructions. (Submitted by Tamara Adrine-Davis.)
